Zora
by Laurence Holder
An award winning dramatic biography of Zora Neal Hurston, famed novelist
(Their Eyes Were Watching God), anthropologist and folklorist.
Under the skillful and creative direction of Pinkie Chappell, Zora
comes to life on the stage. We travel with Zora from her humble
beginnings in Florida, to her rise as one of the leading women of
the Harlem Renaissance, to her tragic fall in the 1950’s.
Critics have called Holder’s play a “crowd pleaser.”
It renders her story, her times, her triumphs.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see Zora!

Our Heritage Festival
January – March 2008 [ now in the
planning]
"All people have threads
of a common heritage – we want to discover those threads
(the positive ones) and weave a new tapestry of community.
For this year’s festival we plan to envelope Black History
Month and turn it into a celebration of art – the thread
here will be the inspiration today’s artists have found
in Black Artists, Black Leaders, or events or people of African
descent. Next year we could look at war or another topic –
like displacement or the culture-killing assimilation process
which immigrants face. No matter your race, origin or history
– certain things affect all humans in almost the same
way – the threads of how we endure, then move on can
be found in art – that’s our common heritage –
let’s create a festival to celebrate this every year."
-- Patti Wray, Founder of the
Our Heritage Festival
